For a second year in a row we at the Credo Bonum Gallery are happy to present Summer Summary, our exhibition for the summer season.

Truth is, we anticipate summer for most of the year. We see it as the season in which we either move about or stay at rest; it’s the time when we get rid of extra skins; and the time when the warm evenings and nights come across as never-ending. Summer is a time for travel and watching the landscape around and inside us. It is a time in which we make recapitulations and hatch new plans, a time in which we enter new relationships and run away from them. Summer is freedom. At the same time summer is utopia, a yearning for Arcadia. Summer is a mirage behind which the outlines are easily recognisable of a reality that’s hard to get away from.

Eight of Bulgaria’s leading artists take part in the exhibition’s 2016 edition. They make their own specific visual interpretations of the concepts of travel, freedom, lightness and the touch with nature – states that are so characteristic of this time of the year. Very often, anxiety and sorrow can be seen behind the seeming lightness in their interpretations. Also from the unknown that’s to come.
