When thinking about the history of photography and the technical possibilities it provides for expression, the question that naturally arose before me was the one about the conflict between imagination and mechanical transfer. The challenge for me was to use the black lens box and the automatic functions as a tool for creation.<\/p>\n

I wanted to prove to myself that I could trust not only my own eyes when I took pictures, and that the print had reason to be criticized as invalid.<\/p>\n

I focused on the possible deformations as an imprint of the sensations that alternated in the specific place. The overexposure gave me the opportunity to paint in real space, so that the images that interest me remained on the surface on their own.<\/p>\n

The process of exposure changed the shapes, adding or subtracting from them, while the light spread colors. I collected pieces of nature to use as words arranged in space in a \u201cvisual verse\u201d.<\/p>\n

The topographic study of the place, a journey between air and water space, unfolded the picture to reflect the inner place. A place with all its complexity of components, substances and processes.<\/p>\n

Yuliana Hicheva <\/strong>was born in 1980 in the city of Varna. She graduated from the National Academy of Arts, majoring in Painting, with a master’s degree in photography. She works in the field of painting and photography. In 2021 she made a series of exhibitions under the name \u201cFree Movement\u201d that were presented in the Georgi Velchev Museum in Varna, and in Depoo Gallery, Sofia.<\/p>\n

With Yuliana Hicheva’s project BETWEEN THE IMAGINARY AND THE MECHANICAL<\/a>, Credo Bonum Gallery presents the projects selected by open invitation for the Credo BOX space.<\/p>\n

Credo BOX is an exhibition space, part of the Credo Bonum Gallery, but with its own program. Located at the entrance of the mother gallery, the Small BOX is a small bright niche in which chamber projects of artists will be displayed. It is a place for a work of art, for an artistic motto, for a drawing, a photograph, an audio or video work, but also for a small, focused artistic gesture, for words and messages.<\/p>\n
