In Zen Buddhism, the circle symbolizes the moment when the mind has left the soul to create; it can be read that it most directly symbolizes the artist’s soul. The background colour is displayed in the iridescent colour spectrum. This means the full palette of colours that one can work with. They change every time you look at them from a different angle and they also reflect the surrounding colours; through them, I discover the diversity of the void.

This is an attempt to fill the void. I read it as an added double standard in artistic and life quests. Firstly, we seek the peace of the void and secondly, we try to fill it with the whole spectrum of known possibilities. One moment a person can live with a little and the next – they would like to own everything. I use two completely incompatible words – zen and kitsch – which describe the circle of modernity in which we live.

Kaliya Kalacheva

Kaliya Kalacheva was born in 1986 in Sofia, Bulgaria, where she lives and works to this day. Located at the entrance of the mother gallery, the Small BOX is a small bright niche in which chamber projects of artists will be displayed. It is a place for a work of art, for an artistic motto, for a drawing, a photograph, an audio or video work, but also for a small, focused artistic gesture, for words and messages.

A project of Kaliya Kalacheva

27 November 2021 – 12 January 2022
Credo Bonum Gallery

Enso means circle in Japanese.

[176,128

post-3858","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-credo-box","category-exhibitions
["GET
