Sofia Sveta Gora

The Sofia Sveta Gora is a pilgrim and cultural tourist route based on the restoration of the pilgrim route that linked the places of worship on Sofia’s outskirts. The goal of the project – co-sponsored by the Credo Bonum Foundation and the Sofia Municipality – is to raise interest in these unique monuments, to encourage a more responsible attitude towards Nature and Bulgaria’s historical heritage by setting up conditions conducive to cultural tourism. The foundation’s main activities focus on the improvement of existing and development of new links – walkways and bike lanes – between the churches and monasteries in the Sofia Sveta Gora, known previously only to passionate pilgrims and outdoor aficionados. Part of the actions for popularising the route is the putting up of signposts, publication of information, the creation and support of a website.
