Park(ing) Day – Sofia 2018

Thirty parking lots of the Green Zone in Sofia will be transformed into temporary spaces for people instead of cars. The initiative is part of the international PARK(ing) Day, which will be held in Sofia for the seventh year, organized by the Credo Bonum Foundation with the support of BACB, Sofia Municipality and TGM.

On Friday, 14 September, citizens, activists, private businesses and NGOs will showcase the theme of this year’s edition of “Hidden Public Spaces in the Quarter” to attract the attention of the media and society to the need for more functional spaces for people. For the first time PARK (ing) Day Sofia will be held within the “kvartal” festival in the area between the boulevards “Al. Dondukov”, Knyaginya Maria Louisa, Slivnitsa and Vasil Levski.

Traditionally, the information center where more details can be found for participants on the day of the event will be PARK (ing) -a of the Credo Bonum Foundation and BACB under the idea of ​​Dare Architects, which will be located before the Ministry of the Environment environment and waters of “Knyaginya Maria Louisa” Blvd. 22. For the first time, the Ministry of Environment and Waters joins the PARK (ing) Day by providing two of its service parking lots on September 14th. The project is called PEOPLE STATION and is a two-story platform with a relaxation, socializing or entertainment zone.

Among other participants this year are Art Muse Art Gallery, Rainbow Workshop, Seemeon 29, Dada Cultural Bar, Dare Architects, French 75, Skaptobara, Art.E, House of Cinema, Cush.BAR, Cush, Postbank, Actualno. com, Tezgjah, Sito Studio, kashon.bg, L’Etranger and Zaharievi. Among the projects there is a street fitness equipped with “home” appliances, a food van, E-ideas for open-air places around Sofia, information retro bus, open-air workshops and others. An interesting project with a cause this year will be the parking lot of the Sofia Municipality and the shelter “Gorni Bogrov”, where some nice dogs will expect their adopters.

This year, organizers challenge all passing citizens to join the game to win a branded BACB reusable bag. For this purpose, they must find and photograph at least three of the PARK (ing) involved in the initiative on September 14th. Photos can upload the PARK (ing) Day 2018 event to the facebook or show them directly at the info center in front of the MOEW where they will receive their prize.
