PARK(ing) Day Sofia 2012

PARK(ing) Day is an annual worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens transform metered parking spots into temporary public parks.

The project was initiated in 2005 when Rebar, a San Francisco art and design studio, converted a single metered parking space into a temporary public park in downtown San Francisco. Since 2005, PARK(ing) Day has evolved into a global movement.

Credo Bonum Foundation has successfully introduced the event in Sofia with more organizations joining the initiative each year.

The mission of PARK(ing) Day is to call attention to the need for more urban open space, to generate critical debate around how public space is created and allocated.

Some of the participants in the September 2012 edition of PARK(ing) Day Sofia were:

Credo Bonum Foundation

The American Embassy in Sofia

The Dutch Embassy in Sofia

The Danish Embassy in Sofia

The Ministry of Finance

The Polish Cultural Institute
